A creative, engaging and innovative cultural festival which immerses a small town in making activity for 2 days. The National Festival of Making provides a nationally relevant programme in Blackburn, Lancashire. Taking over the town’s existing and temporary buildings, arts and creativity are used to celebrate the industrial heritage and contemporary future of the UK's manufacturing & making industries. With over 150 activities in 20 locations, the festival connects peoples hands and minds to making through hands-on activities, music and performance, shopping experiences that focus on the handmade and craftsmanship, cooking and working with food, and impressive contemporary art commissions made in partnership with local manufacturers. Designed as an accessible and free event that allows people to dip their toe in making expand skills, and learn more about a future career path in making from the factory to the kitchen table.
