A Modest Show delivered 43 new commissions in 23 venues across Greater Manchester, over 4 months from May - September, 2022. The public facing programme has been significantly created through newly commissioned artworks and exhibitions, providing a platform and funding for artists to develop new work and reach new audiences.  We created connections between artists; and collectors, curators and institutions through hospitality events, tours and the showcase of A Modest Show at national and international art fairs. The aim was to build potential sales, representation and national exhibition opportunities for Manchester artists. Alongside its public facing programme, A Modest Show created opportunities to support artists in their endeavours and professional development. Our mentoring programme, from May - November 2022, places British Art Show 9 artists with emerging Manchester artists in a series of 1-1 sessions and studio visits. 

A Modest Show will create a legacy from its programme, by developing its assets into ongoing resources for visitors to find and visit Manchester’s artist-led spaces.

 
A Modest Show has been led by the advice and direction of Manchester artists and arts organisations. With an aim to deliver an artist-led programme that highlights Manchester’s creative brilliance, we could not have delivered this without their support. This programme is funded by Arts Council England and GMCA Greater Manchester Combined Authority and is only possible with their backing.
